The ELTU Conference 2014 Call for Papers
2014/02/19
Those in the English Language Teaching field in and around Hong Kong have been gathering annually since 2010 to share their research and new ideas for dynamic classroom teaching, specifically in regard to the challenges and opportunities created by the introduction of the four-year curriculum in Hong Kong's institutes of higher education. Hosted in 2010 and 2011 by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in 2012 by The University of Hong Kong, and in 2013 by City University of Hong Kong, the themes have ranged from organising the four-year curriculum to introducing reading and writing in the four-year curriculum, to examining the expanding role of English language centres in Hong Kong.
The English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has the privilege of hosting the 2014 conference at its Shatin campus on 5 June 2014. In light of the new four-year curriculum, which has prompted new courses and assessments as well as the expansion of programme goals and objectives, the theme of this year's conference is Curriculum Development, Implementation, and Review. After two years of working within the new curriculum, this conference seeks to examine its implementation as well as various approaches to reviewing and adapting it. Professor Constant Leung of King's College London and Professor Wang Haixiao of Nanjing University will share their expertise on this chosen theme in key note addresses.
The Conference Organising Committee welcomes all in post-secondary education to participate by submitting a proposal for a presentation related to the conference theme/sub-themes or by attending this engaging day of sharing and learning among colleagues.
