he International Association of Forensic Linguists (IAFL) and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) invite papers for the 12th Biennial IAFL Conference on Forensic Linguistics / Language and Law (IAFL12).

Deadline for Abstract submission: November 30, 2014
We are looking for both individual papers and posters that deal with interesting topics in forensic linguistics/language and law, including but not limited to the following:
police investigations, interviews and interrogation
courtroom interaction and discourse analysis
courtroom interpreting and legal translation
admissibility of linguistic evidence in court
authorship analysis
speaker identification
comprehensibility of legal texts
interpretation of legal texts
multimodality in legal discourse
legal discourse information analysis
teaching and training of interdisciplinary personnel of language and law
Each presentation is limited to 25 minutes, and 5 minutes should be left for Q&A. Abstracts must be between 300 and 500 words long and must be submitted electronically to the conference website <www.iafl12.org> by November 30, 2014.
We also invite proposals for a colloquium which will be scheduled for a 2-hour slot and focus on the theme of “Functions and Roles of Forensic Linguistics in Legal Practice Today”. 4-5 speakers will be selected from the submitted proposals for the colloquium and equal time will be allocated to speakers for presentation, discussion and interaction with the audience.
