The Lunar New Year's Day

With cracker's cracking noise the old year passed away;

The vernal breeze brings us warm wine and warm spring day.

The rising sun sheds light on doors of each household,

New peachwood charm is put up to replace the old.

清代诗人叶燮也是这么想的——这天，常年客游四方的他乘船沿笤溪回乡，经过漫漫水路，终于抵达吴江横山，听着亲切的乡音，他不禁满心欢喜，于是写下了这首《客发苕溪》。

这首诗虽然不是在春节时所写，却极为生动地展现了久居他乡的打工人归心似箭的返乡心情，一如与家乡阔别已久的我们~

 On My Native Stream

My heart runs faster than

the waves like grief wide-spread,

On rapid current

goes my homesick boat ahead.

Surprised to hear my native dialect 

left and right,

I find over the mast the moon

of yore shine bright.

除夕夜应该是唯一一个熬夜也不会被骂的夜晚了！全家团座欢笑，小孩儿强撑着困意也要和大人一起熬过旧年、迎接新岁。

1062年除夕，在凤翔任上的苏轼回忆着少时与家人守岁的场景，写下了这首给弟弟苏辙的诗。彼时苏辙在京师侍奉父亲，本该阖家团聚的时刻，“宠弟狂魔”怎么可能不怀弟思亲呢！

Staying up All Night on New Year’s Eve

The end of the year is drawing near

As a snake crawls back to its hole.

We see half its body disappear

And soon we’ll lose sight of the whole.

If we try to tie down its tail,

We can’t succeed whatever we do.

Children will stay up and regale

Themselves with feast the whole night through.

Cocks, wake not the dawn with your song;

Drums, do not boom out the hour now!

The wick is burned as I sit long,

I rise to see the slanting Plough.

Will these be no New Year’s Eve next year?

I am afraid time waits for none.

Let us enjoy tonight with cheer

So that childhood will longer run.

Passing by the Northern Mountains

My boat goes by green mountains high,

And passes through the river blue.

The banks seem wide at the full tide;

A sail with ease hangs in soft breeze.

The sun brings light born of last night;

New spring invades old year which fades.

How can I send word to my friend?

Homing wild geese, fly westward please!
