Translator and Interpreter Training: Innovation, Assessment and Recognition
The International Conference on Translation (PPA) is a biennial conference, which was first held in 1984 through the initiatives of the Malaysian Translators Association (MTA) and the Institute of Language and Literature (DBP), with the awareness that translation is crucial in knowledge transfer. Translation is a prime knowledge communication medium to develop one’s country, particularly in this borderless world. Therefore the aims of organizing this international conference are to nurture exchanging of ideas, knowledge and experience, and, simultaneously to encourage cooperation between scholars, language experts, translators, writers, publishers, editors, educators and students internationally. The conference also aims to explore current and latest information on knowledge, theories and techniques, in relevant translation field in order to upgrade translation quality as a whole. This 14th International Translation Conference will be held in Penang, Malaysia on the 27 - 29 August 2013. Universiti Sains Malaysia has been chosen to be the host this time, together with the following bodies as co-organizers: Malaysian Translators Association (MTA), Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM), the Institute of Language and Literature (DBP), under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.
